Garrett Marks, 24, is a 2013 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Belmont University in Nashville, TN, having received two degrees; a BFA in Dance and a BS in Entertainment Industry Studies.

Garrett began dancing at the age of eight after his family members coaxed him into taking a role as a soldier in The Nutcracker. Since then dance has become his passion and Garrett has performed numerous major roles on stage. Through high school he performed at Ballet South, a pre-professional company in Maitland, FL under the direction of Russell Sultzbach.

In college Garrett has diversified his dance style and developed other artistic interests.  As a member of the Belmont University Dance Company, Garrett has danced solo, lead, and ensemble roles in original works by Debbie Belue, Carrie Gerow, and Maggie Pelton.

Marks has also performed for the past three years at the Tennessee Association of Dance Festival.  Once predominantly a ballet dancer, Garrett now performs in multiple styles: modern, jazz, tap, broadway, ballet and West African.  Most recently Garrett has developed a strong interest and skills in the art of choreography, choreographing and performing in both the Dance Composition and Belmont Dance Company Mixed Bill.

With this strong interest in choreography, Marks choreographed extensively for fellow students in the Belmont University Musical Theatre program.  In November 2012, Marks choreographed a flash mob for the Belmont University Basketball team featuring country artist Vince Gill.  As a capstone to his degrees at Belmont, Garrett debuted a senior undergraduate thesis in April of 2013.  Page 191 is a 45-minute self-choreographed and produced show featuring Marks and eight other performers.

In addition to performing and choreographing, Garrett has done extensive work in costume design and construction for both theatre and dance. Garrett has also done stage makeup and wig design and application for many shows, including the first collegiate production of Les Miserables, premiered in March by the Belmont University Musical Theatre Department.

Garrett currently is a production cast dancer on the Celebrity Millennium, traveling throughout Alaska and Asia.
